The Long Ride
LEU Long Ride will repeat pedaling in California in 2026!!
The LEU Long Ride is like no other divisional ride; it starts May 1st (or April 30th) and pedals high mileage in a daily quest to visit 6 to 9 departments, offices / LODD sites / PBA-FOP halls, etc., to fulfill our mission to honor and remember. In 2026 the LEU Long Ride will again pedal through CALIFORNIA.
Starting in San Francisco and ending in San Diego the Long Ride will pedal to law enforcement offices throughout the state. Besides SF and SD: big cities such as Sacramento, Los Angeles, but also cities such as Fairfield, Davis, Stockton, Modesto, Merced, Fresno, Bakersfield, Santa Monica, Long Beach as well as dozens of other cities / towns / offices along the way.
In 2025 the first time the Long Ride was in California, the over two dozen LEU members from 14 different states held 52 wreath laying ceremonies honoring 57 departments / offices as well as attending several other events. Each Long Rider is assigned wreath laying duties during the ride. The small nature of the group provides an unmistakable intimacy between the LEU Members and the families and co-workers and truly makes the Long Ride different.
There is a day off in between the Long Ride and the start of the 3 day division rides (a day of travel so we all can trek to the start location of whichever 3 day division the individual rider pedals with; which worked very smoothly in 2025!).
Long Riders have options for bike transfer (both going out west and then coming back east). Long Riders have no additional fundraising BUT are responsible for paying their expenses: lodging is double occupancy at group rates; plus a fair share of other common costs (food, gas, etc).
The primary goal is to let families, agencies, cities and towns know that we will Honor the Fallen & Remember the Survivors. Taking our east coast rides out west. And, no matter their size, wherever a fallen brother or sister gave the ultimate sacrifice - the Long Ride will be stopping to pay tribute. With you, as part of the LEU Long Ride team, standing next to survivors, Chiefs, Sheriffs and elected officials as part of the ceremony.
Feel free to reach out we will put you in contact with a Long Rider from your area / team; we have plenty of details to share.
